Kerala Simple Ghee Rice Ghee rice or Neyi choru 2 cups Rice3 nos Cardamom (Elakka)3 nos Cloves (Grambu)1" stick Cinnamon (Karugapatta)1 tsp Pepper2 no Green chillies (coarsely chopped)3 nos Garlic pods (coarsely chopped)1 cm Ginger (coarsely chopped)3 tbsp Ghee1 no Bay leaf (Vazhana/Karuga ela)1 no Carrot (sliced)1 no Onion (finely sliced)2 cups Coconut Milk1 tsp Salt1 tsp Cashewnuts1 tsp Raisins (Onakka munthiri) Grind cardamom, cloves, cinnamon and pepper. Grind chillies, garlic and ginger with a little water to a fine paste. Heat Ghee in a pan.Add bay leaf, carrot and 1/2 the onion. Fry for 3 minutes. Add ginger garlic paste. Stir and fry for 2 minutes. Add the ground spices. Add washed and drained rice. Fry for 1-2 minutes. Add coconut milk, salt and one cup of water. Stir and bring to boil. Cover and cook on very low heat for 1/2 hour or till rice is done. Heat a tbsp of oil in another pan.Add the remaining onion and fry till golden brown. Add the cashew nuts and raisins. Fry for a minute. Spread the fried onions, cashews and raisins over the rice before serving. Kerala
You have not mentioned what type rice is to be used. Is it Basmati rice or any other ordinary rice?

Is this Ghee rice or Coconut rice? The preparation looks more like that of coconut rice or veg fried rice! Ghee is not at all used in the preparation.

This is the receipe for cocnut rice in Tamilnadu , ghee rice we should not add cocnut milk the taste will be entorely diferent rather tham instead of oil if we use ghee it gives god taste i have preared with out coconut oil
is it copied,then do it carefully.u made a lot mistakes.

simple but brilliant. u can give it an attractive yellow colour with a pinch of turmeric as well.
