  • Dessicated coconut - 1 cup
  • Instant yeast - 1/2 tsp
  • Sugar - 2 tbsp
  • Salt - as required

Instructions
  1. For preparing Kerala Style Vellayappam, first soak basmati rice in water for almost 1 hour.
  2. Put the soaked basmati rice, boiled rice, desiccated coconut, water and sugar in the mixer and grind till smooth(like dosa consistency).
  3. Pour this into a large bowl and add yeast and mix well.
  4. Leave this for around 4 - 5 hours or till the mixture rises.
  5. Add salt to this mixture and mix well.
  6. Heat a tawa or nonstick vellayappa chatty and make yummy vellayappams.
  7. Serve hot with chicken curry.
