Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups Basmati rice/Pacharisi
  • 1 cup Boiled rice
  • 1 cup Dessicated coconut
  • 1/2 tsp Instant yeast
  • 2 tbsp Sugar
  • as required Salt
  • 1 cup Water

Instructions
 

  • For preparing Kerala Style Vellayappam, first soak basmati rice in water for almost 1 hour.
  • Put the soaked basmati rice, boiled rice, desiccated coconut, water and sugar in the mixer and grind till smooth(like dosa consistency).
  • Pour this into a large bowl and add yeast and mix well.
  • Leave this for around 4 - 5 hours or till the mixture rises.
  • Add salt to this mixture and mix well.
  • Heat a tawa or nonstick vellayappa chatty and make yummy vellayappams.
  • Serve hot with chicken curry.
