Kerala Tasty Rasam Easy n simple way to make a spicy rasam 1/2 cup Red gram (Thuvaraparippu)2 nos TomatoMustard seeds (A few)1 tsp Cumin seeds (Jeerakam)6 nos Small onions (Kunjulli)3 nos Garlic podsSalt (As reqd)Curry leaves (A few)Coriander leaves (A few)1/4 tsp Chilly powderPepper (As reqd)Asafoetida (A pinch, Kayam)1/2 tsp Lemon juice Cook the dal.Grind the tomatoes and add it to the cooked dal.Heat oil in a pan.Add mustard seeds and when they splutter, add cumin seeds and finely chopped onions and garlic.Add this to the dal along with water and salt.Allow it to boil.Add chilly powder and pepper.Cook till it reaches the desired consistency.Add coriander leaves and curry leaves before removing from flame.Add asafoetida and lime juice and mix well.:- Serve hot.
