Instructions
  1. For preparing the traditional styled dish, slowly peel off the outer surface of the plantain skin and finely chop them.
  2. Put the chopped pieces in water.
  3. Add a little gruel water(Kanji vellam) into the above water and keep it for sometime. :- This is done to get rid of the serum.
  4. Place the above chopped plantain pieces along with turmeric powder, water and required salt in a vessel and allow it to cook. Keep this aside.
  5. Place grated coconut, cumin seeds, green chillies, garlic cloves and curry leaves in a mixer bowl and run it once into a coarse form.
  6. Mix together the coconut mixture with the cooked plantain.
  7. Heat oil in a pan or a kadai.
  8. Splutter mustard seeds and saute red chillies, rice and curry leaves.
  9. Add the plantain mixture and mix well.
  10. Lower the flame and cook the thoran till done.
