Instructions
  1. For prepraring kootukari - brahmin special, wash kumbalnga, elephant yam and chana dal and boil it in the cooker with sufficient quantity of water take about 2 cups of water so that the vegetables are immersed in water). Add turmeric and salt to this.
  2. Grind the grated coconut 1 cup with jeerakam and red chillies adding some water.
  3. Add the cooked vegetables to the ground coconut mixture and allow to boil for a few minutes. Then add jaggery.
  4. Fry mustard seeds and urad dal in coconut oil. Add the remaining 1/2 cup grated coconut and keep frying till it becomes brownish in color.
  5. Stir in the fried ingredients into the cooked vegetable mixture. Add curry leaves.
  6. Koottukari - brahmin special recipe, is ready. Serve hot.
