Instructions

  • Grind ginger and garlic into a paste or crush them in a mortar and pestle.
  • Place pressure cooker on high flame and pour the oil into it.
  • When the oil is hot, add onions and fry till golden brown.
  • Add prepared ginger and garlic and stir for a few seconds.
  • Stir occasionally and cook till tomatoes are pulpy and oil separates, for about 5 mins.
  • Add peas and saute for about 2 mins and add remaining water or whey.
  • Close cooker and bring to full pressure on high heat, then reduce heat and cook for another minute.
  • Remove cooker from heat and release pressure by slightly lifting the vent weight.
  • Open cooker and place it on medium heat and add paneer.
  • Simmer for about 5 mins and stir in garam masala powder.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves.
  • :- Serve hot.
  • :- I use either "Nanak" brand paneer or any brand of queso blanco (you can find it in any of the mexican stores or at costco). Queso blanco (queso = cheese; blanco = white) is paneer but most brands are salted..
  • :- You can also substitute paneer with extra firm tofu.
  • :-As always play around with the spices to suit your mood!
  • :- I find its tastier if you don¦t fry paneer and its also healthier!
