  • Milk - 10 cups
  • Rice(good quality brown rice) - 4 tbsp
  • Sugar - 1 cup
  • Cashew nuts(sliced lengthwise) - 50 g
  • Cardamom(Elakka) - 1 tsp
  • Saffron strands(powdered, Kumkumapoo) - 1/4 tsp
  • Rose essence(optional) -

Instructions
  1. Take half quantity of measured milk(5 cups) and add 5 cups of water.
  2. Boil and add washed rice. Cook in medium heat.
  3. After rice is cooked, pour remaining milk and cashew nuts. Continue cooking.
  4. When the quantity of milk has reduced to half, add sugar. Mix well and boil.
  5. Add powdered kumkumapoo and cardamom powder.
  6. Remove from fire and enjoy delicious milk payasam. :-You can add rose essence if you prefer the taste(optional)
