  • Rice - 2 cups
  • Carrot(cut into small pieces) - 1 no
  • French beans(cut into small pieces) - 4 -
  • Potatoes(boiled & mashed) - 2 nos
  • Ghiya(finely chopped) - 1 cup
  • Peas - ½ cup
  • Tomatoes(finely chopped) - 4 nos
  • Onions(finely chopped) - 2 nos
  • Oil - 2 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  • Curry leaves - 8 -
  • Dry red chillies(Kollamulaku) - 4 -
  • Bengal gram(Kadalaparippu) - ½ tsp
  • Black gram(Uzhunnuparippu) - ½ tsp
  • Groundnuts - ½ cup
  • Tamarind water - 1 cup
  • Sambar masala powder - 2 tbsp
  • Red chilly powder - 1 tsp
  • Sugar - ½ tsp
  • Turmeric powder - ½ tsp
  • Salt(As reqd) -
  • Asafoetida(A pinch, Kayam) -

Instructions
  1. Boil rice in the normal way.
  2. Heat oil in a pan or a kadai.
  3. Add groundnuts and fry for about a minute.
  4. Put all the vegetables (except tomatoes and mashed potatoes) along with little water.
  5. Cook it for 5-7 minutes till half done.
  6. Add tomatoes and cook further for about a minute.
  7. Add mashed potatoes, salt, turmeric powder, sambar powder, tamarind water and sugar.
  8. Add boiled rice and mix well. Cover it with a lid and simmer for 5-7 minutes. The rice should not get too dry.
  9. Sprinkle chopped coriander leaves.
  10. :- Serve hot.
