  • Green gram(Moong dhal) - 3/4 cup
  • Cumin seeds(roasted and coarsely ground)(Jeerakam) - 2 tsp
  • Pepper(roasted and coarsely ground) - 2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Salt(As reqd) -
  • Oil - 2 tbsp
  • Ghee - 1 tsp
  • Green chillies - 4 nos
  • Curry leaves(A few) -

Instructions
  1. Heat oil in a pressure pan.
  2. Add ground cumin seeds and pepper.
  3. Add curry leaves and green chillies and saute for a min.
  4. Add washed rice and dal and fry for a few mins.
  5. :- Alternatively, rice and dal can be fried first in a kadai or a pan and then can be added to the above tempering.
  6. Add 5 1/2 cups of water and salt.
  7. Cover the pan with the lid and cook upto 2 whistles.
  8. Allow it to cool and then open the pan.
  9. :- The mouthwatering aromatic pulao is ready to be served.
  10. :- If the rice is new, reduce the qty of water. The pulao should not be sticky.
