  • For preparing Muringakka Thoran, take a knife and peel the skin off the drumsticks. Wash them and cut them into finger length pieces. Cut them across and keep aside.
  • Add turmeric powder, chilly powder and salt to the grated coconut and mix them well. Keep this aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan or a kadai.
  • Add mustard seeds and when they crackle, add the dry red chillies.
  • Add small onions and squash the baby onions, just to make them out of shape.
  • Once the onions turn into golden brown, add the cut drumsticks.
  • Add 1/2 cup water along with salt and close the pan.
  • Allow the drumsticks to get cooked(approx 10-12 mins, till the entire water is vapourized).
  • Add the grated coconut mixture to this.
  • Saute, till the raw smell of turmeric is gone.
  • :- Serve Muringakka Thoran hot with lunch or dinner.
