Mushroom Potato Masala

Mushroom Potato Masala is a homely, tasty dish made with mushrooms and potato. This is a vegetarian gluten free dish, very healthy and nutritious. The dish is unique and special with a lovely blend of two veggies drenched in a flavorful masala gravy. Mushrooms and potato make a wonderful combo in Mushroom Potato Masala. The simple and delicious dish goes well with roti, chappathi and even rice. Potato absorbs the flavor and aroma of mushrooms and it tastes awesome. In Indian Cuisine we find a lot of combinations, but this is the most versatile and easiest of dishes. The dish requires readily available ingredients that can be easily prepared at home. Ingredients
  

  • 3 nos Potatoes large
  • 1 lb Mushrooms sliced
  • 1 no Onion finely chopped, large
  • 2 - Green chilly pepper finely chopped
  • 3 nos Tomatoes
  • Salt As reqd
  • Oil As reqd
  • Curry leaves A sprig
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • Ginger optional
  • 1 tsp Masala powder grind together the following into a fine powder.
  • Cardamom(Elakka)
  • Cloves(Grambu)
  • Cinnamon(Karugapatta)
  • Aniseeds(Perinjeerakam)
  • Black pepper(Kurumulaku)

Instructions
 

  • For preparing the delicious dish, first heat oil in a pan.
  • Add onions and green chilly peppers and saute.
  • Add ginger and garlic paste.
  • Add a little salt and turmeric powder along with the masala powder.
  • Chop tomatoes to small quarter inch pieces and add to the mix.
  • Once it is almost pureed and the oil begins to separate, add the thinly diced potatoes.
  • Once the potatoes are almost cooked, add salt as needed.
  • Add the mushrooms and mix it well.
  • When it is thoroughly cooked, add the sprig of curry leaves, torn apart.
  • :- You may add a little bit of coriander powder and red chilly powder.
  • :- Serve with rice, rotis or sandwiched.

    I tried this recipe and it tasted good. The combination of potatoes, mushroom and Green peper is good. I fried the onions, ginger and garlic and grinded into a smooth paste and added in the recipe as above.It was very good for roti. Thank you
