Muttayappam

Muttayappam is a traditional breakfast dish of North Malabar served usually with non vegetarian dishes. Muttayappam tastes yummy and delicious and serves as a wholesome nutritious dish with chicken or mutton curry. Muttayappam is unique and special with ground rice mixture blended with egg and deep fried in hot boiling oil. Muttayappam can also be served as snacks for tea time. Instructions
  1. For preparing Muttayappam, first soak rice over night.
  2. Grind it along with very little water. The batter should be in a thick consistency.
  3. Add 1 egg and blend it again.
  4. Pour it into a bowl and add chopped onion, green chilly, coriander leaves and salt. Mix well.
  5. Pour a small laddle full of batter into the hot oil and deep fry until light brown in color.
  6. Tasty muttayappam is ready now.
