Nadan Thenga Kozhi Piralan, quite popular in Kerala Cuisine, is a lip smacking and flavorful dry dish. The dish bears close resemblance to chicken roast dishes in Kerala. It is the flavorful coconut mixture that makes Nadan Thenga Kozhi Piralan unique and special. It has now become my in house favorite method of making chicken roast. These type of dishes host a dry dish with little or no gravy at all. Nadan Thenga Kozhi Piralan goes well with chappathi, appam and even cooked rice. Another specialty of the dish is the fine balancing of flavors, the heat from the chillies, the masala flavors from spices, all work together making the dish the most sought after one. Even a kid will find no difficulty with the dish. Kids are very averse to spiciness and they prefer mildly flavored ones, but they find this dish quite appealing perhaps for the coconut flavor.
Nadan Thenga Kozhi Piralan is one of my favorite dishes and it is that aromatic coconut flavor I am attached. Since I love coconut flavored dishes, I was in search for such a dish. Luckily one of my friends hosted a dinner party and that’s how I came in touch with the dish. The spicy rich dish has regional variations in the number of ingredients used but the basic preparation and addition of spices remains the same. The thickly texture gravy is a sought after dish and you can impress your guests. You are actually adding some spicy coconut flavored goodness to the chicken pieces and that makes the dish superb. Consuming chicken is nutritious and healthy. Chicken is rich in protein and other vital nutrients required for your body.
