North Indian Peas Pulao Green peas and Basmati rice with mild spices 2 cups Basmati rice200 gm Green peas (fresh or frozen)1 no Onion (thinly sliced, medium)1 no Tomato (thinly sliced, medium)Mint leaves (A few, Pudhina)2 tbsp Coriander leaves (chopped)Salt (As reqd)1/4 cup Oil6 nos Green chillies (thinly sliced)Spices: (crushed)2 nos Cloves (Grambu)2 sticks Cinnamon (Karugapatta)2 nos Cardamom (Elakka) Wash and soak rice for 20 mins. Allow it to drain.Heat oil in a cooker or a pan.Season the crushed spices.Add onion and fry, till it becomes golden brown.Add peas, tomato, green chillies, mint and coriander leaves and fry, till it becomes soft.Add rice and saute for 2 - 3 mins.Add 3 cups of water and salt.Pressure cook upto 1 whistle or shift the contents to the microwave container and cook it in full power for 10 - 15 mins. The drafting of the recipe is not good.The recipe`s name says peas pulao and in the prep method,adding of peas is not mentioned…which makes it incomplete….adding carrots will add some colour and taste to the pulao.
very good recipe.somebody mentioned that ,it is not said where to add peas.we can see it in the 5 th step
