Orotti is a traditional South Indian dish, very popular in Malabar region. Orotti is the simplest and the most commonly prepared one among dishes. In this recipe I used wheat flour to make the breakfast dish. You can relish the dish with pickles, curd or any lip smacking chutneys of your choice. Some people like to spice up the dish by adding finely chopped onion and cumin seed while making the dough. Here I use grated coconut to make the dough. This healthy dish is basically a combination of the goodness of wheat with grated coconut. Making this dish is an easy one and can be pulled out into thick rounds by anyone. Try this delicious and simple dish and treat your taste buds to a wholesome and complete meal that will make you stay fit for long hours. You can explore a well detailed recipe here that can be easily prepared at home.
For preparing the healthy dish, first take a bowl and add the wheat flour along with grated coconut and salt. Mix all together adding little water at a time and make a sticky dough.
Keep some water in a bowl and keep it aside. Take a leaf, dip the fingers into the water and spread the dough into a thick bread and place another leaf on the top.
Heat a clay pan/non stock pan and cook the rounds along with leaf on both sides until golden brown in colour.
