Pakkavad, also called as Ribbon Pakoda is a popular tea time snack in India and is very easy to prepare. This is a very common snack item prepared during some festive occasions.

  • Roasted gram flour - 3 cups
  • Roasted rice flour - 1 cup
  • Red chilly powder - 2 tsp
  • Asafoetida powder(Kayam) - 1 pinch
  • Salt(As reqd) -
  • Ghee - 1/2 tbsp
  • Oil for frying -

Instructions
  1. Mix the flour with chilly powder, asafoetida powder and salt.
  2. Add the ghee and mix well.
  3. Knead the above to a smooth dough using hot water.
  4. Press it through the ribbon mould of a seva press into hot oil and fry it till golden brown.
  5. Drain off the excess oil on a kitchen towel.
