Cuisine Kerala Prep Time 20 minutes Servings people MetricUS Imperial Ingredients Parippu(Lentils/Dal) - 1 cup Turmeric powder - 1 tsp Onion(diced & divided into half, medium) - 1 no Ginger(sliced) - 1 tsp Cinnamon(Karugapatta) - 1 stick Curry leaves - 5 - Ghee - 1 tsp Dried red pepper(As reqd) - Thick coconut milk - 1 cup Salt(As reqd) - Lime(As reqd) - Cuisine Kerala Prep Time 20 minutes Servings people MetricUS Imperial Ingredients Parippu(Lentils/Dal) - 1 cup Turmeric powder - 1 tsp Onion(diced & divided into half, medium) - 1 no Ginger(sliced) - 1 tsp Cinnamon(Karugapatta) - 1 stick Curry leaves - 5 - Ghee - 1 tsp Dried red pepper(As reqd) - Thick coconut milk - 1 cup Salt(As reqd) - Lime(As reqd) - Votes: 1 Rating: 3 You: Rate this recipe! Instructions Wash the parippu, until the water is clear. Put parippu in pan and cover with water (water should be 1/2 inch above the lentils.) Add turmeric, half the onion, ginger, cinnamon stick and curry leaves. Cover and boil, until water is absorbed. Take off the flame and place in a bowl. Heat ghee in the pan. Fry the remaining onions & dried red pepper. Cook, until pale golden colour. Combine cooked parippu, the mixture & coconut milk. Return to flame and warm through. Add salt and mix well. Finish with a squeeze of lime & stir. :- Serve with rice & curries. SOoooo…yes there are states many.. i may add…where there is a LOW indian population and therefore no indian stores to buy ghee.
