For preparing pavakka piralen, first make a paste with 3/4 dsp maida, required salt and little water.
Smear this paste over the pavakka pieces and marinate for an hour.
Squeeze out water from the pavakka pieces and keep aside.
Grind the ingredients to be ground: chilly powder, coriander, shallots, garlic, pepper, fenugreek powder, cumin seeds and turmeric powder to a fine paste.
Heat oil in a pan and fry the ground masala well. Add the squeezed pavakka pieces and sliced shallots. Saute till pavakka pieces are almost cooked.
Add tamarind pulp, required salt and little water. Allow the curry to boil and then simmer in low heat by covering with a lid.
When the pavakka piralen becomes thick, remove from fire.
Pavakka piralen, a highly nutritious recipe is ready.
