  • Curd/Yoghurt - 1 litre
  • Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  • Red chillies(Kollamulaku) - 2 nos
  • Asafoetida(A pinch, Kayam) -

  • Oil - 1 kg

Instructions
  1. Take yoghurt in a bowl.
  2. Add salt and mix well.
  3. Season it with 1 tsp of oil, red chillies, asafoetida and curry leaves.
  4. Crush the mustard seeds into coarse powder and mix it too with the yoghurt.
  5. Wash the dal and soak it for 2 1/2 hours.
  6. Then grind it like a thick paste by using little water.
  7. Heat oil in a wok.
  8. Take enough dough for about 5 to 6 vadas in a bowl and add enough salt.
  9. Take the dough and make them into big lemon sized balls and place them on a plastic paper.
  10. By using little water, flatten them and put a hole on them with finger.
  11. Then slowly place them into the oil and fry them till golden brown.
  12. :- You can make upto 5 to 6 vadas at a time.
  13. Finally, slip in these vadas into yoghurt and allow them to soak for 2 hours.
