Pillaiyarpatti Vinayagar Modhagam is a traditional styled sweet in tamilnadu. This is a very simple sweet served in temples on festive occasions. Its prepared with processed rice flour, moong dal and cooked with jaggery and enriched with the flavour of cardamom. Pillaiyarpatti Vinayagar Modhagam is a mildly sweetened prasadham with a little crunch, different in texture to normal kozhukkatai. The dish is later steamed. This is a tasty divine recipe. This sweet can be served as snack for kids arriving home from school. The sweet can also be served as a tea time snack. This is nutritious and wholesome for kids.   • Soak rice and moong dal for 30 minutes.
  • Dry rice and dal in cloth under fan and make sure the rice is dry before grinding.
  • Now grind this rice and dal and make sure the texture should be like rice rawa.
  • In a pan dry roast this ground rice until its dry.
  • Meantime, take pan and add jaggery with 1/4 water and boil till the jaggery dissolves.
  • Now add balance of water in rice mixture and cook till its done.
  • Now add jaggery water into the rice mixture which is cooked.
  • Next, add grated coconut, cardamom and mix well.
  • Now cook till the water drains completely and add ghee. Mix well.
  • Cook for 5 more mins till its nonsticky in pan.
  • Now turn off the flame and allow to cool. In the mean time grease steamer.
  • Now make this into small sizes balls and arrange in steamer. Steam for 10 minutes.
  • Pillaiyarpatti Vinayagar Mothagam is ready.
