Instructions
  1. Dry fry sesame seeds, black gram, Bengal gram, red chillies and asafoetida, till they all turn roast for about 5 - 6 mins.
  2. Grind the fried ingredients with green chillies, chick peas, tamarind paste, jaggery (or brown sugar) and grated coconut along with a little water into a smooth paste.
  3. Heat oil in a pan or a kadai.
  4. Splutter mustard seeds.
  5. Add turmeric powder followed by the canned crushed pineapple and fry the pineapple for about 15 mins approximately.
  6. Add the ground paste to the fried pineapple and fry further 10 mins.
  7. Add salt and mix well.
  8. Remove kadai from the heat.
  9. :- This goes well as a side dish with chappathis or rice & rasam and can be eaten hot or cold.

very delicious, can try the same recipe with finely chopped ripe mango in place of pineapple for variation.
