Prawns In A Spicy Tangy Gravy

  • Clean & devein the prawns / shrimps.
  • Soak the tamarind in half a cup of hot water from 10 - 15 minutes and then squeeze out the tamarind to get a thick juice / pulp.
  • Heat oil in a pan and add the onions and fry until they are translucent in color.
  • Add chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt and 1 cup of water and cook covered on a low flame till the oil separates.
  • Add the prawns / shrimps and cook until done.
  • Add the tamarind juice / pulp and bring the curry to a boil.
  • Garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves.
