It has a unique taste according to the way of preparation, today i would love to share the authentic Valam Puli Achar, which is one of my mom's staple recipe. Those of you have not tasted it do give a try and you will be hooked. This is the traditional way of making tamarind pickle. You can also make this pickle using garlic and ginger. These pickles can be stored in air tight bottles for up to 2 or 3 months. The sour taste of tamarind and the heat of the spices used can help in giving a delicious taste. The polyphenols in tamarind have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. These can protect against diseases such as heart disease, cancer and diabetes.
