For the ground masala:
1)Roast all the ingredients one by one and grind until smooth except coconut. Then add dessicated coconut and grind once again to mix well.
For the tamarind juice:
1)Soak tamarind in warm water for an hour and extract juice from it. Keep it aside.
i`m frm bangalore but now in usa , i was searching hard for the typical karnataka style puliyogare , n after making ths gojju i was very delighted to eat the same taste of my state .plz can u mail me more karnataka recipes like obbattu .
I used to just boil the Tamarinda Paste and Jaggerry and rasama pudi and make the pulioyagare paste and add little powdered ellu pudi(Sesame Powder). This is normally what we do in our Hebbar Iyengar Style in Bangalore. I will try your recipe and see how it tastes.

Sonali avare. Bahala chennagide nimma puliyogare recipie.
