Quick & Easy Vegetarian Brown Rice

Ingredients
  

  • Basmati rice : 1½ cup
  • Sliced onion : 1 nos
  • Cumin seeds : 1 tsp
  • Water : 3 cup
  • Sugar : 2 tsp
  • Cloves, coarsely crushed : 3 nos
  • Cinnamon sticks, coarsely crushed : 3 nos
  • Black peppercorns, coarsely crushed : 4 nos
  • Cardamoms, coarsely crushed : 3 nos
  • 3 tsp Oil : 2
  • Salt : as reqd

Instructions
 

  • Wash and soak the rice in water and keep aside for 30 minutes.
  • Heat oil in a deep bottom pan and fry the whole garam masala.
  • After it crackles add the sliced onion and fry till golden brown in color.

  • Add sugar and soaked rice and fry for 2 - 3 minutes.
  • Enter Step
  • Add salt and water and cover the pan and cook on a low flame for 20 minutes till the water has evaporated and rice is cooked.
  • Enter Step
  • Serve with dal and salad.
