Rasakalan is a delicious and traditional Brahmin special dish with rich creamy gravy. Rasakalan is a combo of a variety of veggies like white gourd, Pumpkin and other vegetables cooked in a coconut mixture and seasoned. For preparing rasakalan - brahmin special, cut and wash white gourd, pumpkin, elephant yam and raw banana. Boil with sufficient quantity of water. Add turmeric powder and salt.
Fry channa dal, red chillies(3 numbers) and fenugreek(1/2 tsp) with coconut oil and grind the fried items with grated coconut and green chilly.
Add the ground mixture to the first step and boil for a few minutes.
What’s the difference between aviyal and rasakalan?
The only difference is we use Little jaggery for rasa kalan for the taste. Rest of the procedures are same.
