Red gram/Vanpayar
soaked and boiled
1
cup
Dried
prawns
cleaned and roasted in 1 tsp
oil
3
nos
Onion
chopped
1
tsp
Ginger
chopped
5
cloves
Garlic
chopped
4
nos
Dry
red chillies
cut in half
Curry leaves
Few
1/2
tsp
Turmeric powder
2
tsp
Chilly powder
1
tsp
Coriander powder
2
tsp
Garam masala
2
tbsp
Oil
1/2
tsp
Mustard seeds
Salt
As reqd
Instructions
For preparing red gram/vanpayar with dried chemeen, first heat
oil
in a pan and splutter
mustard seeds
.
Add
onion
,
ginger
,
garlic
and sautT till light brown in color.
Add
curry leaves
and dry
red chillies
.
Then add
turmeric powder
,
coriander powder
, chilly powder,
garam masala
and saute till the raw smell goes off.
Add the boiled vanpayar and sautT well.
At this point, add dried chemeen and 4 tbsp
water
.
Cover it with a lid and cook for some time.
Red gram/Vanpayar with dried chemeen, a tasty side dish recipe is ready.
