Instructions
  1. Wash the dal & cook with a little turmeric powder.
  2. Do not discard the water used to cook the dal. Keep it in a vessel.
  3. Heat oil in a pan.
  4. Fry the onions & spices till the onions are brown.
  5. Add the slit green chillies, mint & half of the coriander leaves, salt, garlic & ginger paste & fry for 2 mins.
  6. Add the chopped tomatoes.
  7. Add the washed drained rice & fry for a few mins.
  8. Add the cooked dal and mix well.
  9. Add the 3 cups of water and cook for 8 - 10 minutes. (Measure the dal water along with plain water to make 3 cups)
  10. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
  11. :- Serve hot.
  12. Note : Pls use the same cup for measuring the rice, red gram(dal) and water.

You can cook in coconut milk instead of water, it will taste better.
