  • Basmati rice(preferably Indian Dehraduni type) - 1 cup
  • Potato - 1 no
  • Onion - 1 no
  • Tomato - 1 no
  • Green peas - 1 tbsp
  • Green chillies(finely chopped) - 1 tbsp
  • Ginger(finely chopped) - 1/2" piece
  • Fresh lime juice - 1 tsp
  • Coriander leaves(finely chopped) - 1 tbsp
  • Vegetable oil - 1 tbsp
  • Water - 2 1/2 cups
Spices:-
  • Red chilly powder - 3/4 tsp
  • Coriander powder - 1 tsp
  • Garam masala powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Salt(As reqd) -

Instructions
  1. After washing the rice with water, soak it in water for half an hour.
  2. Peel the potato, onion and the tomato.
  3. Cut potato and onion into thin circular pieces and the tomato into 8 - 10 pieces.
  4. Drain all the water from the rice and discard the water.
  5. Take a non-stick skillet and place it on medium heat.
  6. Pour oil and when it is hot, add all the spices. Stir for 2 mins.
  7. Add water and let it boil.
  8. Add potato pieces.
  9. Put the rice in the boiling water and let it cook for 10 - 15 mins.
  10. :- The rice will be semicooked in this time.
  11. Add tomato, onion, peas and lime juice and slowly stir.
  12. Cover the skillet and let it cook for 5 mins.
  13. :- By this time, all the water will get evaporated.
  14. Sprinkle coriander leaves.

When will ginger and green chillies to be put.Are they added together with spices?
