Saiva Meen Kuzhambu is a special Chettinad vegetarian curry, famous in South Tamilnadu. We do this Vegetarian Fish Curry with cowpea/ black-eyed peas which, we call in Tamil karamani. Contradictory to its name meen, which means fish, this dish doesn’t have any fish at all. Saiva Meen Kuzhambu can also be called as Vegetarian Fish Curry. We soak this cowpea and grind with few masala, steam and cut like fish shape. We roast in Tawa, add this vegetarian fish into the curry which, we prepare with onion, tomato and tamarindwater as thin curry. The curry is nothing but Puli Kuzhambu / Kara Kuzhambu. The only part we need to concentrate more is to prepare this vegetarian fish using cow peas / thatta payar, which is also simple. It looks very similar to a traditional fish curry. Now we can see this in detail.
