Sardine Cutlet (Mathi Cutlet)

Cooked and mashed sardines mixed with potatoes and other ingredients to make cutlets

Ingredients
  

  • 8 nos Sardine Mathi/Chaala
  • 1/2 cup Onions finely chopped
  • 1 tsp Ginger finely chopped
  • 1 tsp Chilly powder
  • 2 dsp Tomato fine chopped
  • 1 no Potato cooked and mashed
  • 1 no Egg beaten
  • Bread crumbs As reqd
  • Oil For deep frying
  • Salt As reqd

Instructions
 

  • Clean the sardines and drain.
  • Cook the sardines with tomatoes, chilly powder and required salt until done and water evaporates completely. Crush the cooked sardines removing all bones.
  • Take a pan and pour oil. Heat the oil and fry chopped onions and ginger. Add mashed potato and crushed sardines. Mix together and remove from fire.
  • Make small cutlets with your palm and coat well with the beaten egg and roll over bread crumbs.
  • Take a pan and pour sufficient oil for frying. Fry both sides of the sardine cutlet until golden brown in color.
  • Yummy and highly nutritious sardine cutlet is ready. Serve hot.
