  • For preparing semiya uppuma, first roast semiya in ghee or coconut oil until golden in color. Keep aside to cool.
  • In a fry pan(cheenachatti), heat oil and fry chopped onion, carrot pieces, green chillies, ginger and curry leaves.
  • When the colour of above ingredients turn golden, add required water and salt and allow to boil for a few minutes.
  • After this mix boil well, add the fried semiya into this and mix well. If required, after cooking the uppuma, scraped coconut can be added.
  • Semiya uppuma is very easy to prepare and is also a very tasty breakfast dish. Can be served with banana or chutney or can eat without any side dish.
