  • Split chickpeas(soaked in water for 30 minutes, Kadala Parippu) - 1/2 cup
  • Dates - 100 g
  • Asafoetida(A pinch) -
  • Water - 3 cups
  • Ghee - 3 tbsp
  • Salt(As reqd) -

Instructions
  1. For preparing shahi chana dal rice, heat 1 tbsp ghee in a pan. Add asafoetida, split chickpeas and water and cook the split chickpeas partially.
  2. When the split chickpeas is half cooked, add rice, salt and cook till done on a low flame.
  3. Reduce flame and add the remaining ghee and dates.
  4. Cook till the dates soften a little.
  5. Shahi chana dal rice is ready. Serve hot.
