Shahi Chana Dal Rice

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Long grain rice soaked in water for 30 minutes
  • 1/2 cup Split chickpeas soaked in water for 30 minutes, Kadala Parippu
  • 100 g Dates
  • Asafoetida A pinch
  • 3 cups Water
  • 3 tbsp Ghee
  • Salt As reqd

Instructions
 

  • For preparing shahi chana dal rice, heat 1 tbsp ghee in a pan. Add asafoetida, split chickpeas and water and cook the split chickpeas partially.
  • When the split chickpeas is half cooked, add rice, salt and cook till done on a low flame.
  • Reduce flame and add the remaining ghee and dates.
  • Cook till the dates soften a little.
  • Shahi chana dal rice is ready. Serve hot.
