Somas hold a special place in Diwali celebrations. They symbolize the joy of sharing and the richness of traditions passed down through generations.

Ingredients
  

For Preparing Dough:

  • 1 Cup Maida
  • 1/4 Cup Rava sooji
  • 2 Tsp Ghee
  • 1/2 Tsp salt
  • Water required for dough

For Preparing Filling:

  • In a bowl add maida and all the ingredients for preparing dough. Mix roughly.
  • Now add water and make a smooth dough and keep aside for 2 hours.
  • Now roast the fried gram and allow to cool.
  • Now roast coconut adding ghee.
  • Grind the sugar with cardamom to a powder form.
  • Next, grind fried gram and mix with powdered sugar and roasted coconut. Keep the sweet filling aside.
  • Now make small balls of prepared dough and roll it.
  • Keep the sweet filling in middle.
  • Close and seal it with your hands and shape with fork like this(see pic).
  • Deep fry Somas in hot oil and drain.
  • Now its ready to serve and store for a week.
