South Indian DryFish Gravy

Karuvadu Kulambu recipe is a very famous south Indian dry fish curry,which is served with rice,idly,dosai. i prepared this gravy in kolli karuvadu, we can use any dryfish with same base gravy

  • Fry the onion with oil for 5 mins and make as a paste
  • chop the onion, coconut, tomato,garlic. and prepare coconut paste, tamarind water
  • heat the oil and temper the mustard, cumin seed and fenugreek seed
  • now temper the red chilli and curry leaves
  • add chopped onion and garlic and saute it for 5 mins, until it turn into brown
  • add tomato and fry for 5 mins
  • add salt, turmeric powder and sambar powder and mix well
  • add tamarind water, mix it and allow to boil for 5 mins
  • add chopped coconut and mix it
  • add onion paste and mix well and allow to boil for 2 mins
  • add chopped brinjal and allow to boil
  • now add coconut paste and required water and allow to boil until the gravy get thick
  • mean while clean and fry the dry fish in a pan for 2 mins
  • add dry fish in the gravy and mix well and allow to boil for 2 mins
  • now dry fish gravy is ready. serve with rice, idly and dosa
