Spicy Tangy Fish Rice

Spicy Tangy Fish Rice is an excellent , tasty dish prepared with spice up fish gravy. This would be the best option for sunday lunch. The fish is marinated with masalas, spices and cooked in a gravy. This is mixed up with rice and prepared. A simple rice & fish recipe for beginners using basic ingredients, can be made under 30 mins.

Ingredients
  • Fish(boneless and cut into pieces, Salmon, Catfish) - 2 lb
  • Basmati rice(washed and soaked for 30 mins) - 5 cups
  • Onions(diced into small pieces, big) - 2 nos
  • Green chillies(split into halves) - 12 nos
  • Yoghurt/curd(sour) - 1/2 cup
  • Dill leaves with branches(cleaned and cut) -
  • Coriander leaves with branches(cleaned and cut) -
  • Carrot(minced, big) - 1 no
  • Oil/Ghee - 1/3 cup
For marinating fish:

Instructions
  1. Marinate the fish with the ingredients for marination and refrigerate it overnight in an air-tight container.
  2. Heat oil/ghee in a big skillet.
  3. Add onions and green chillies and fry, till golden brown.
  4. Add marinated fish and fry.
  5. Add half of dill leaves and half of coriander leaves.
  6. Reduce the heat to the medium and cover and cook.
  7. When the fish is about to be done, add yoghurt and stir slowly.
  8. :- Do not to over stir and break the fish pieces.
  9. Cover and cook for another 10 mins.
  10. Turn off the heat and seperate the fish pieces from the gravy.
  11. Drain the soaked rice.
  12. Heat a tbsp of ghee in a cooker.
  13. Add drained rice and fry for few mins.
  14. Add the gravy from the fish, carrot, the remaining dill leaves, the remaining coriander leaves and 6 1/2 cups of water.
  15. Pressure cook upto 1 whistle.
  16. Let it rest for 15 mins.
  17. Open the lid and remove the contents into a serving bowl.
  18. Place the fish pieces on top of the rice.
  19. Garnish with dill leaves.
  20. :- This is a very nutritious & spicy recipie and is a good source of vitamins, proteins and minerals.
