For preparing sukhi bengal gram/chana dal/kadalai parippu/kadale bele, first soak chana dal in water for one hour.
Rinse and add 1 1/2 cup water, turmeric and required salt to chana dal and cook in medium heat until chana dal is just cooked. Remove from fire and keep aside.
Heat ghee in a pan and saute cinnamon, clove, bay leaf, cumin seeds and cayenne pepper for a few seconds.
