  • Onions(chopped) - 2 nos
  • Cumin seeds(Jeerakam) - 1/2 tsp
  • Cloves(Grambu) - 3 nos
  • Bay leaves(Vazhana/Karuga ela) - 2
  • Black pepper - 1/2 tsp
  • Green peas - 1 cup
  • Coriander leaves(A small bunch) -
  • Red chilly powder - 1 tsp
  • Ghee - 2 tsp
  • Salt(As reqd) -
  • Sugar - 4 tsp

Instructions
  1. Wash rice, drain water and keep aside.
  2. Heat ghee in a pan.
  3. Add cumin seeds, cloves, bay leaves and pepper.
  4. Add chopped onions and fry, till brown.
  5. Add washed green peas and cook for a minute.
  6. Add rice and cook for 2 mins.
  7. Grind tomatoes with coriander leaves to a puree.
  8. Add the tomato puree with water (of desired quantity) to the rice.
  9. Add red chilly powder, salt and sugar.
  10. Cook the rice, till the water is completely absorbed.
  11. :- Serve with chutney or pickle.
