Sweet Tomato Rice

Bit sweet and a bit salty tomato rice

Ingredients
  

  • 5 nos Tomato
  • 2 nos Onions chopped
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds Jeerakam
  • 3 nos Cloves Grambu
  • 2 Bay leaves Vazhana/Karuga ela
  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper
  • 1 cup Green peas
  • Coriander leaves A small bunch
  • 1 tsp Red chilly powder
  • 2 tsp Ghee
  • Salt As reqd
  • 4 tsp Sugar

Instructions
 

  • Wash rice, drain water and keep aside.
  • Heat ghee in a pan.
  • Add cumin seeds, cloves, bay leaves and pepper.
  • Add chopped onions and fry, till brown.
  • Add washed green peas and cook for a minute.
  • Add rice and cook for 2 mins.
  • Grind tomatoes with coriander leaves to a puree.
  • Add the tomato puree with water (of desired quantity) to the rice.
  • Add red chilly powder, salt and sugar.
  • Cook the rice, till the water is completely absorbed.
  • :- Serve with chutney or pickle.
