Tamil Nadu Lemon Rasam Rasam without tamarind or rasam powder 3 tbsp Red gram (Thuvaraparippu)3 to Green chillies1 no Tomato (large)1 to LemonTurmeric powder (A pinch)Salt (As reqd)Oil for seasoning1 tsp Mustard seedsCoriander leaves for garnishing Heat some oil in a pan.Slit open the green chillies and fry them till they turn white. Remove the chillies from the oil. Boil the red gram/dal.Put the fried chillies and chopped tomatoes with a pinch of turmeric powder in a small vessel and pressure cook it. Mash & take the pulp of chilly tomato and add it to 1 cup water and bring to boil. When it starts boiling, mash the boiled dhal well and add to the boiling mixture. Do not allow this mixture to boil. Once done, switch off the flame and then add lemon juice and salt as per taste. Season with mustard seeds and garnish with coriander leaves. :- Serve hot with rice or just DRINK IT!!! Tamil
