Tamil Nadu Style Garlic Rasam Rasam made with garlic and tomatoes 3 tsp Red gram (Thuvaraparippu)1 1/2 cups Tamarind juice1 no Tomato10 nos Garlic pods1/2 tsp Pepper powder1/2 tsp Cumin seeds powder (Jeerakam)1/4 tsp Turmeric powderAsafoetida (A little, Kayam)Salt (As reqd)Curry leaves (A few)Coriander leaves (A small bunch)For seasoning:-1/4 tsp Mustard seeds1/4 tsp Fenugreek seeds (Uluva)1 no Red chillies (Kollamulaku)3 tsp Ghee Pressure cook dhal, separate dhal and dhal water. Keep it aside.Heat ghee in a pan.Splutter mustard seeds.Add fenugreek seeds and red chillies.Add garlic and fry on medium flame for 1 minute.Add tomatoes and allow it to cook.Add tamarind juice, cooked dhal, turmeric, pepper and cumin powder, asafotedia, salt, cilantro and curry leaves.Allow the rasam to boil for 3 mins.Finally, add dhal water and when the rasam starts to boil again, switch off the fire.
