  • Basmati rice - 1 cup
  • Vegetables(Carrots, Beans, Green peas, Cauliflower) - 2 cups
  • Onion - 1 no
  • Tomato - 1 no
  • Yoghurt/curd - 1 tbsp
  • Lemon juice - 1 tsp
  • Bay leaves(Vazhana/Karuga ela) -
  • Cinnamon(Karugapatta) -
  • Cumin Seeds(Jeerakam) -
  • Cloves(Grambu) -
  • Oil -
For masala:

Instructions
  1. Heat oil in a pressure pan.
  2. Add all the spices, sliced onion and the ground masala.
  3. When it turns colour, add tomato.
  4. Add rice and fry.
  5. Add all vegetables to it along with yoghurt, lemon juice and salt.
  6. Add enough water and check the level of salt.
  7. Close the lid and pressure cook it, till you hear 1 whistle.
  8. :- Serve with Raita or a Kuruma.

This recipe was very good. Very rich taste probably because its a Biryani and made to be the main meal on the table! I liked it, my husband liked it. Only thing is that I soaked the rice ahead of time which made the rice a little sticky. To make this recipe again, I would just fry the rice as directed.
