  • Chicken - 1/2 kg
  • Onions - 2 nos
  • garlic(finely chopped) - 5 cloves
  • Ginger(chopped) - 1 tbsp
  • Green chillies - 3 nos
  • Fenugreek seeds(A pinch, Uluva) -
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Cinnamon(Karugapatta) - 4 small
  • Cardamom(Elakka) - 4 nos
  • Cloves(Grambu) - 4 nos
  • Curry leaves - 2 springs
  • Red chillies - 2 nos
  • Tomato(chopped) - 2 nos
  • Chilly powder - 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Coriander powder - 1 1/4 tsp
  • Chicken Masala powder - 1 tsp
  • Garam masala - 1/2 tsp
  • Tamarind water(made with a very small piece of tamarind soaked in water) - 1/2 cup
  • Tomato sauce - 1 tsp

  • Curry leaves - 2 springs
  • Red chillies - 2 nos
  • Tomato(chopped) - 2 nos
  • Chilly powder - 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Coriander powder - 1 1/4 tsp
  • Chicken Masala powder - 1 tsp
  • Garam masala - 1/2 tsp
  • Tamarind water(made with a very small piece of tamarind soaked in water) - 1/2 cup
  • Tomato sauce - 1 tsp

Instructions
  1. For preparing tans special chicken curry, wash the chicken pieces properly and keep it aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pan, saute onions, garlic, ginger, green chillies and salt until the onions become light brown in colour. Remove it from flame and allow it to cool.
  3. Grind the above into a fine paste with fenugreek seeds and mustard paste. Keep this fenugreek mixture aside.
  4. Meanwhile cut the tomatoes and saute it in a pan with little water. Grind it to make a fine puree.
  5. Heat oil in a vessel and sautT cinnamon, cardamom and cloves.
  6. Then add split red chillies and curry leaves. Allow it to splutter on low flame.
  7. Then add in the fenugreek paste and saute it for 5 minutes on medium flame.
  8. Pour in the tomato puree and saute for 2 minutes.
  9. Add in chilly powder, turmeric powder and coriander powder. Saute it for 5 minutes.
  10. Now add in the chicken masala powder and garam masala. Saute for another 2 minutes.
  11. When the gravy begins to simmer, pour in the tamarind water, chicken pieces and 1/2 cup of water. Allow it to cook with a closed lid for 10 minutes.
  12. Pour tomato sauce to the chicken curry and mix well.
  13. Garnish with coriander leaves and remove it from the flame.
  14. Tans special chicken curry is ready. Serve hot.
