  • vazhaithandu / plantain 1 stem -
  • grated coconut 1/4 cup -
  • Onion : 1 no -
  • red chili 2 no. -
  • split moong dal 1/5 cup -
  • Salt to taste -
  • cumin seed 1/2 tsp -
  • Oil: 2 tbsp -
  • mustard 1/4 tsp -
  • broken urad dal 1/4 tsp -
  • curry leaves 1 sprinkle -

Instructions
  1. soak the split moong dal in water for 5 mins
  2. chop the plantain / vazhai thandu and put it in water
  3. chop the onion, red chili
  4. in a kadai temper the mustard and broken urad dal
  5. add curry leaves, onion and red chili and saute it for 5 mins
  6. add chopped plantain/ vazhaithandu and mix it
  7. add soaked moong dal and salt and mix well
  8. add one glass water and allow to cook
  9. Mean while add coconut and cumin seed and make powder
  10. add this powder to vazhaithandu, mix it
  11. now thengai vazhaithandu poriyal
