Tomato Dal Tomato and Red gram(Thuvaraparippu) curry 4 nos Red tomato300 gm Red gram (Thuvaraparippu)3 nos Green chillies1/2 tsp Asafoetida (Kayam)1 tsp Mustard seedsCurry leaves (A few)1/2 tsp Turmeric powderSalt (As reqd)1 tsp Ghee Pressure cook dal upto 3 - 4 whistles.Mash the dal well and keep it aside.Heat a tsp of ghee.Splutter mustard seeds.Add asafoetida and saute it.Add cut tomatoes, curry leaves and green chillies.Cover and cook, till the tomatoes are done.Add the mashed dal and mix well.:- Serve hot with rice or rotis. Slightly different than any usual daal but still pretty good over all……. it definitely has some nice taste…. more south indian flavor.
