Soak Bengal gram(channa dal) for 3 to 4hrs and grind it coarsely by adding little water or without water.
Make small vadas and fry in oil (Do not deep fry). Remove from oil when it is cooked. Heat oil in a pan. Add cloves, cinnamon, bay leaves and aniseeds. Add onions, green chillies, ginger, garlic and saute until the raw smell goes away. Add tomato pieces and saute for few minutes.
When the colour changes, add chilly powder, coriander powder and turmeric powder. Add some water and salt. Allow it to boil. When it boils well, smash the fried vadas with your hand and add to this. Chop mint leaves and corriander leaves, add to this and allow it to cook for a while. Add garam masala. When it forms a thick gravy and emits a good aroma, remove from fire.
The recipe is good.To make it more spicy, while grinding add green chilles to channa dhal.
