Vallarai Thuvayal (brahmi Leaves)

Brahmi leaves are said to be a powerful brain tonic and these are the leaves that enhances ones memory power. These leaves contain a mild bitterness in it naturally but in this recipe we have prepared a thuvayal or chutney which taste awesome that there isn't any clue of its bitterness. This vallarai thuvayal is very essential for growing kids . This thuvayal is prepared by sauting the vallarai or brahmi leafs in oil along with onions, tomatoes and finally grinding it like chutney.

Ingredients
  

  • brahmi leafs cleaned 1 cup
  • mustard ,channa dal urad dal each 1 sp
  • shallots ( baby onions) 1 cup
  • red chilli 2
  • green chilli 2
  • salt to taste
  • coconut slits 1/2 cup

Instructions
 

  • saute mustard ,channa dal and urad dal
  • add shallots along with red chilli and green chilli
  • add brahmi leafs cook till soft
  • add tomatoes and salt
  • let cool grind the chutney along with coconuts
