Vettha Kuzhambu Vettha kuzhambu 50 ml Oil (Gingely oil preferred)2 tbsp kadugu1/2 tbsp Menthyl seeds (venthayam)1 tbsp Red gram (Thuvaraparippu)3 nos Onions (medium)3 tbsp Sambar powderTamarind (A big lemon sized, Puli)Salt (As reqd)Curry leaves (A few)Asafoetida(Kayam) Heat oil in a tava.Add the cumin seeds, menthyl seeds and red gram.When the dhal becomes golden in colour, add the onions and fry them till it`s golden brown.Add the sambar powder and fry for 1 min.Add the tamarind paste (made in 3 cups of water). Add salt and allow it to boil for 10 - 15 mins, until it thickens to a gravy.Add curry leaves and asafoetida.:- Serve it with hot rice.:- You can use brinjal, drumstick too etc instead of onions.
